Citronella grass

Citronella grass, or lemon grass (Cymbopogon nardus, Cymbopogon winterianus), has been intoduced from Asia into various parts of Africa for the production of citronella oil, used in the perfume and cosmetic industries.  Recently, unidentified species of stem borers have been observed attacking this crop in Ghana, causing serious damage (M. Botchey, personal communication).
