A guide for farmers and extension staff 2nd edition

Step by step >> Home

This easy-to-read primer shows farmers how to manage two of the major pests of maize, stemborers and striga weed, in the eastern and southern Africa region without the use of chemical pesticides. The 'push-pull' strategy is a novel system of intercropping designed to manage the agroecohabitat for higher maize yields, while at the same time providing fodder, enriching the soil and conserving biodiversity. Push-pull can also be adapted for sorghum and millet fields and is an affordable, appropriate and socially acceptable technology for use by Africa's farmers.
